Ontario Gravel Camp

Join us for a long weekend of gravel rides through beautiful Ontario rides and swap stories form the days adventure around the campfire.

Love cycling and camping, sometimes together? We do too! Join us at Gravel Camp! Bring your bike, a tent, a swell attitude and join us for a weekend of riding, good food, and good folks! We take care of breakfast and dinner at camp, as well as fireside refreshments. Each day is a different route and a different glimpse of the great riding Ontario has to offer.

Routes designed to kick the season off

We’ve all been excited to get back on the bike after a long winter of indoor trainer rides or our trusty steed staring back at us begging to be ridden. These routes will take you through rolling hills on dirt roads with fun sections to spice things up. Bike touring is fun, but sometimes it’s nice to have your gear waiting for you all set up and ready when you’re done the days ride.

Camping, but nicer

Camping is fun, but there are a lot of steps and a lot of planning involved. We’re taking care of that so you can get the most out of your weekend. We’ll have food and refreshments waiting for you after the ride, and you’ll leave for your ride in the morning with a full belly, too.

Its your weekend, focus on riding and enjoying yourself with old friends and new. Swap stories around the campfire and enjoy the best parts of bike camping without all the headache and carrying of gear.

 FAQs

  • Yes! At the very least a bivy. Given that you will not be riding with your tent, there is no weight penalty to bringing a larger shelter, so bring your comfiest camping items. A limited number of rentals are available at a cost from OTAC.

  • Aside from a tent, you should have a sleeping bag rated to around 0c, and a sleeping pad to keep the cold out from the ground. If you have a favourite mug/thermos for your morning coffee, you’re welcome to bring it. Headlamps are also a pretty key item. We also recommend that you bring at least two spare tubes with you. We will have spares, but may not be able to accommodate all tire sizes. Some waterproof gear is always a plus in case of inclement weather as well as warm clothing for cool evenings and mornings.

  • You should be able to complete between 80 to 100km in a day. This won’t be a hammer-fest, the focus is on fun, and there will be ground to cover!

Nobody gets left behind on an OTAC ride, there will be a guide at the tail of the pack.

  • Bring the bike you like riding dirt roads with the most! What is a gravel bike anyways? Most participants will be using a bike with 35-50mm tires.
